• Action: At the request of the Tax Revenue Department, the board approved a contract with eDocs Technologies LLC to create a “permit portal” to expedite the processing of building permits throughout the county with a design fee of $5,000 and an annual hosting fee of $15,000.
At the request of court administration, the commissioners entered into an agreement with Renee Colbert retroactive to June 20 to serve as criminal conflict attorney at a rate not to exceed $25,000 per year and a maximum annual caseload of 45.
The board approved a new budget of $855,078 for the Leader Program from July 1 through June 30, 2015. The county also will be purchasing for the program two 2015 Chevrolet Express 12-passenger vans at a cost of $24,103 from Bob Fisher Chevrolet of Reading, Berks County, through a state contract that does not require bidding.
On behalf of District Attorney Gene Vittone, the commissioners OK’d a $10,000 federal grant through the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute aimed at conducting more effective and efficient child-abuse investigations.
The Cameron Wellness Center has scheduled a series of five diabetes education classes for county employees at a total cost of $1,200.
At the request of the Children and Youth Services agency, the commissioners approved agreements through June 30, 2015, with attorneys Frank C. Kocevar and Erin Dickerson to provide legal services and counsel to children involved with the agency. They will be paid a monthly rate of $2,916.
Southwestern Area Agency on Aging Inc. will provide programs for those aged 60 and older through June 30, 2015, for a sum not to exceed $1,587,700. A county match of $294,543 is required.
The county will pay Park Avenue LLC $2,168 a month for office space for District Judge Mark Wilson. The five-year lease will increase 3 percent annually through Dec. 31, 2019, with the option to extend the lease for three additional, five-year terms. A two-year lease with the Andrew G. Uram Family Partnership for the office of District Judge Robert Redlinger will cost $4,261 per month for the first year, with a 3 percent increase for the second year and the option to extend past July 30, 2016.
As expected, the commissioners approved the sale of a 10-acre parcel in the Starpointe Business Park, Hanover Township, to Sirius Star LLC, for a new building for the Mach 1 logistics firm and another tenant.
Also as expected, the board approved payment to Mel Blount Youth Home, Blaine Township, for the placement of a child between July 1, 2013, and June 30, 2014, for a sum not to exceed $20,000.
