CLARKSVILLE – Charges of access device fraud and theft by unlawful taking were filed against a Clarksville man who allegedly accessed the checking account of a local bar while working for a beer distributor that supplied it.

According to police, Robert Allen Ray, 52, of 88 East Drive in Teagarden Homes, used the checking account of Ozy’s Bar and Grill in Pitt Gas to pay his cable bill March 22 and again April 22.

Bar owner, Kristen Ozohonish, told police she noticed two unauthorized withdraws from the business’ account payable to Atlantic Broadband. When she contacted the company she learned payments were made to cover a residential cable bill in the amounts of $400 and $565.92.

Ozohonish told police she suspected Ray, who at the time worked for a beer distributor that made deliveries to the business. She said she based this suspicion on the fact she paid him by check, giving him access to the account numbers.

A search warrant served on Atlantic Broadband provided police with records that indicated the funds removed from Ozohonish’s account were credited to an Atlantic Broadband account registered to John and Robert Ray of Clarksville.

According to the criminal complaint, filed Friday before Greene County Magisterial District Judge Glenn Bates, Robert Ray admitted to police that he used the account without permission.
