WAYNESBURG – The Eva K. Bowlby Public Library is hosting an energy literacy program from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13.

The program is sponsored by the EQT Foundation and was written and designed by RiverQuest staff in Pittsburgh.

RiverQuest staff will be present to lead discussions about traditional resources of oil, coal, natural gas and nuclear, alongside renewable resources such as hydroelectric power, wind, solar, geothermal and biomass.

The program is designed to provoke discussions about which resources are cleaner than others and which have the capacity to provide us with the energy we need to run our homes, cars and businesses.

In addition, discussion topics will include the current mix of energy sources being used in the United States and the world, and how natural gas could be the bridge that bridges the transition from nonrenewable energy resources to renewable energy resources.

“Energy Bridges” also uses demonstrations and activities to compare and contrast the energy resources as the program works to enhance energy literacy.

All ages are encouraged to attend and participate in the discussion and demonstrations.

Those interested can register for the program by calling the library at 724-627-9776.
