State police have identified the motorcyclist who suffered major injuries Sunday night when he crashed on Interstate 70 in Donegal Township.

Hargon Sandhu, 20, of Belmont, Ohio, was driving west on I-70 near the Claysville exit at 6:45 p.m. when he lost control of his motorcycle, turning the bike onto its side and sliding about 120 feet, Trooper Stefani Plume said.

He was flown by medical helicopter to UPMC-Presbyterian hospital in Pittsburgh with major injuries, police said. His condition was not released.

Investigators said Sandhu was speeding, which contributed to the crash. He will be cited for reckless driving, police said.

Both westbound interstate lanes were closed for about two hours while the wreckage was removed.
