Three Washington County students were among 177 high school seniors throughout the state who received $1,000 scholarships through the Comcast Foundation’s Leaders and Achievers Scholarship Program.

They are Olyvia Adkins of Washington High School, Josiah Hritsko of Canon-McMillan High School and Cassandra Lignelli of Ringgold High School.

One of the Comcast Foundation’s signature community investment initiatives, the program recognizes students’ leadership skills, academic achievement and commitment to community service. A student from Harrisburg received a $10,000 Comcast Founder’s Scholarship, bringing the award total to $187,000.

After a prize drawing, 10 students also received netbooks for college.
