Levittown, P.R., continued to live off the long ball as they survived their second elimination game in as many days with a 10-2 victory over Bay County, Mich., Tuesday afternoon.
One day after Levitttown tied a World Series single-game record with six home runs, the Caribbean Zone champion’s Jean Paul Santana broke a 2-2 tie in the fourth by hitting a three-run homer, the decisive blow in the game. Heliot Ramos added a three-run homer for Levittown in the sixth.
Santana was only in the game because Levittown shortstop Kenneth Soto homered earlier in the game but was then called out for having used an illegal bat. Soto and Levittown manager Willie Joe Ronda were ejected from the game. Santana replaced Soto in the lineup.
Bay County had four baserunners picked off first base and another doubled off second base on a line drive.
Winning pitcher Jose Fieueroa pitched six strong innings, allowing two runs on six hits. Ramos had four of the nine hits for Levitttown.
