Honeybee facts

• The honeybee’s wings stroke at about 200 beats per second, which results in the famous buzz.

• A honeybee can fly for as far as six miles, and as fast as 15 mph.

• The average worker bee produces about one-twelfth of a teaspoon of honey in its lifetime.

• A colony contains between 30,000 to 50,000 bees during the late spring or early summer.

• Honey never spoils.
