Carroll Twp. man jailed following domestic dispute
A Carroll Township man was placed in Washington County jail late Thursday following a domestic dispute at his residence at 1892-A Route 2023, Monongahela, according to an affidavit filed in the office of District Judge James Ellis.
Jesse James Cassidy, 29, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, possessing an offensive weapon and obstructing administration of the law, Carroll Township police said.
Police were called to the residence at 4:28 p.m. Thursday, when his live-in girlfriend and the mother of his children, Britney Michelle Behanna, reported he had choked her during an argument over money. When Behanna was able to break away from his choke hold, she took their children and went to a neighbor’s house, police said.
When police arrived, they say Cassidy had barricaded himself in the apartment by locking the door and placing furniture in front of it.
A short time later, Cassidy opened the door, and when he was being taken into custody, police said they noticed he took something from his pocket and threw it on the couch, claiming it was his wallet. When police found the item, they say it was a fully charged stun gun.
Police said there have been previous domestic calls to the apartment, but no protection-from-abuse order was in effect.
Cassidy was arraigned before Ellis and jailed on $30,000 bond.
