Agency, Community Action plan homebuying workshops

The Home Ownership Center of Washington County will launch the workshop series “Building Your Financial House,” which is designed to help prospective homebuyers identify financial strengths, challenges and strategies as they think about purchasing a home, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Sept. 17.
The series is scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month through May 2015.
Participants will also be paired with a certified federal Department of Housing and Urban Development counselor, who will meet with them individually to develop action plans designed to help them achieve their financial goals.
The workshops, individual coaching sessions and child care will be offered without charge. They are being sponsored by the Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency. The Home Ownership Center is a program of Community Action Southwest to encourage those interested in building, purchasing or maintaining a home. Housing counselors can also help area residents improve their credit rating or avoid foreclosure.
The Home Ownership Center receives funding through the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development, Pennsylvania Housing Finance Agency, United Way of Washington County and the Local Share Account of gambling revenues from The Meadows Casino.
