Racers rip Rebellion

The Akron Racers belted around four Pennsylvania Rebellion pitchers for 15 hits in a 15-0 rout Friday night.

The loss dropped the Rebellion to 8-29 while Akron moved to 17-20.

Jennifer Gilbert drove in four with a home run and triple and Jessica Garcia, Charlotte Morgan and Taylor Schlopy each hit a home run.

Dallas Escobedo, the No. 1 pick in the draft, did not make it out of the second inning for the Rebellion. She gave up five hits and six earned runs. Angel Bunner did not fare much better, surrendering three runs and six hits in 1 1/3 innings. Anna Miller and Tatum Edwards combined to give up six runs in 3 1/3.

Jenn Lappin had two of the Rebellion’s five hits.

Alison Owen gave up five hits, no runs, walked two and struck out two for Akron.
