Penn State trustees seek meeting over NCAA sanctions

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Nine alumni members of the Penn State board are seeking a special meeting to discuss the consent decree with the NCAA over the school’s handling of the Jerry Sandusky child molestation scandal.
A letter from the nine to chairman Keith Masser requested a meeting on the topic the week of Aug. 18.
The letter says they want to talk about settlement discussions involving Penn State, the NCAA and the state of Pennsylvania.
It follows a judge’s decision on Thursday to give parties in a federal lawsuit over the $60 million fine a month to possibly settle that case.
The trustees wrote that “time is short” and they don’t want a repeat of how the consent decree was handled two years ago.
