WHEELING, W.Va. (AP) — A Pennsylvania man faces up to 30 years in prison after pleading guilty to a federal charge of traveling across state lines to have sex with a minor.
U.S. Attorney William J. Ihlenfeld II said Thursday that 28-year-old Mustafa Momoun Bazbaz of Oakdale, Pennsylvania, also faces a fine of up to $250,000.
Ihlenfeld says Bazbaz started talking to a 15-year-old girl from Jefferson County, Ohio, through a social media website in December 2013. Bazbaz claimed to be 17 years old and eventually took the girl to a hotel room in Hancock County in West Virginia’s Northern Panhandle.
Ihlenfeld says Bazbaz is a commercial airline pilot who was working for Republic Airways at the time.
Bazbaz pleaded guilty Wednesday to travel with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
