Right fielder Chris Sweeney delivered a two-run walk-off double with one out in the bottom of the 12th inning to give the Evansville Otters a 4-3 victory over the Washington Wild Things Saturday night.

Washington, which has lost three in a row, is in third place in the East Division, one game behind the first-place Otters.

Sweeney’s doubled came off closer Jonathan Kountis. Jeremy Nowak and Chris Elder, who each singled in the inning, scored on Sweeney’s double.

Washington took a 3-2 lead in the top of the 12th when Carter Bell’s squeeze bunt scored Garret Rau.

Rau reached in the 12th on an error, and moved to second on a groundout by William Beckwith. A balk call pushed Rau to third base, where Bell brought him home.

Evansville built a 2-0 lead with single runs in the second and third innings. Sweeney led off the second with a home run to make it 1-0. In the third inning, DH John Schultz walked, shortstop Phillip Wilson singled him to third and left fielder Jeremy Nowak drove him in with a single.

Scott Kalamar hit a solo home run to lead off the fifth to cut the Otters’ lead in half, 2-1. In the eighth inning, Bell walked, stole second and came around to score on a single by catcher Jim Vahalik.
