April Ryan has one name, her shop has two, and her day doesn’t have enough hours.

“I have so much going on,” she said Friday, laughing.

But among paint-and-sip parties, art lessons, and her own design, decorating and artwork endeavors, Ryan did find time to open a studio in downtown Washington. It’s at 151 S. Main St. and known by Inner Artist Studio – AND by Art By April Ryan.

“I opened about a month ago and have been open every Thursday during the farmers markets,” said Ryan, of Washington. “At first, I was going to open all the time. But I have parties almost every night. It’s just too much.”

Before launching the shop, Ryan conducted paint parties at clients’ venues. Now she does them in the store, where she also offers art lessons. Her artwork and that of others is displayed at the front.

Suellen Templeton, an artist from Houston, assists her, mostly with the paint-and-sip parties. Ryan said Templeton worked for her previously at Designs by Ryan, which closed about a decade ago in Washington Mall.

Ryan said she hopes to expand shop hours by late September or early October, but they would be on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. So much of her time is already accounted for.
