Charleroi 72, West Greene 22: Steve Iacovino’s 15 points Wednesday led a balanced scoring attack as Charleroi bounced back from a one-point loss Tuesday at Brownsville to beat West Greene, 72-22, in a Section 5-AA game.

Matt Indorante added 14 points, while Dakota Moorer and Jim Diaz had 10 each, for the Cougars (9-2, 11-6), who moved back into second place in the section following Brownsville’s 76-72 loss to California Wednesday night.

Austin Eddy led West Greene (0-11, 0-16) with seven points.

Clairton 54, Mapletown 27:

Clairton defeated visiting Mapletown 54-27 in a Section 3-A game. No details were made available to the Observer-Reporter.

Girls basketball

Trinity 58, Clairton 27:

Rachel Phillis had 16 points to lead Trinity past Clairton, 58-27, in a non-section game.

Mary Dunn added 13 points for the Hillers (9-10), who led 44-19 entering the fourth quarter.

Kamara Townes had nine points for Clairton (6-11).

Burgettstown 58, Western Beaver 32:

Kristen Roy had a big game with 30 points and nine rebounds, powering Burgettstown to a 58-32 victory over visiting Western Beaver.

Burgettstown (2-16) built a double-digit lead at halftime and finished strong, outscoring winless Western Beaver (0-15) 15-2 in the fourth quarter.

Katie Tarr scored 12 points for Burgettstown. Halle Powell had 18 for WB.
