PITTSBURGH (AP) – Police say they’ve arrested a suspect in the robberies of 14 convenience stores and a Family Dollar store in the Pittsburgh area.

Obayhana Wright is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Wednesday in Allegheny County on 13 of the cases.

Two other cases are being tried in neighboring Westmoreland County.

Police say the 43-year-old Wilkinsburg man told officers he committed the robberies, between Oct. 17 and Nov. 16, because he lost his job and couldn’t afford health care or medication.

Court documents say the suspect displayed a toy gun during the robberies and got away with about $6,000 in cash and more than $1,000 worth of cigarettes.

Police say Wright told one store clerk: “I have a gun. I will shoot you!”
