PITTSBURGH – A Crucible man was indicted Tuesday by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh for allegedly damaging a natural gas well pad in Monongahela Township.

Brian M. Harbarger, 35, of Second Street, was indicted on one count of damage to an energy facility, according to a release issued by U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton.

On March 26, Harbarger entered the Burchianti Pad, a pad of five natural gas wells operated by Chevron North America Exploitation and Production Co., and stole copper wire, according to information from the court.

Harbarger appeared Wednesday before federal Magistrate Judge Maureen Kelly and pleaded not guilty. He was released on $25,000 unsecured bond.

Harbarger faces up to five years in prison for the offense. The Federal Bureau of Investigation and the state police conducted the investigation leading to the indictment in this case.
