CARMICHAELS – More than 400 Christmas cards created by students in Carmichaels Area Elementary Center will be sent through the Red Cross Holiday for Heroes Program to soldiers serving in combat zones outside the United States.

The students did the project in conjunction with Columbia Pipeline Group. Its Inclusion and Diversity North 3 Team committee member Frank Jeffries coordinated, with sixth-grade teacher Fred Morecraft, a veteran of the 103rd Armor Battalion in Connellsville, to have the children create the handmade cards.

They will be distributed to local armories with soldiers serving away from home for the holidays and then distributed to their various units.
