Less than 24 hours after “Stop the Violence” organizers held a peace rally and marched through the streets of Washington, two of the local anti-violence group’s members were arrested and charged with the brutal beating of a man in the city. Nikole Ardeno, one of the co-coordinators for the Stop the Violence group, and Emanuel Velez were accused of beating their former roommate, Joshua Magraff, another member of the group, on Oct. 26. City police said Ardeno was still wearing her Stop the Violence shirt from the march when they arrested her minutes after the assault.
