United Way of Washington County will hold a mandatory meeting for local agencies interested in applying for Community Impact Grants for 201517 at 3 p.m. Jan. 14 at Cameron Wellness Center, South Strabane Township.

United Way representatives will review the application process and, based on community research, will summarize community needs in United Way’s focus areas – health, education and financial stability – and explain to the group the funding priorities for the next two-year cycle. Previous funding of a program or service is no guarantee of future funding.

After the meeting, interested parties will be required to send a letter of intent to United Way indicating which focus area they are addressing, outlining the community program or service they hope to assist. Programs and services that best address community needs will be invited to submit full applications.

Decisions will be made by citizen review panels from throughout the community. Approval will be based on the merits of the program, community need and funding dollars available. Final approval for funding will be by United Way’s Board of Directors in June.
