Burgettstown cuts short C-H’s rally

Dylan Dhans’ steal and layup with seven seconds remaining gave Burgettstown a wild 59-57 victory over visiting Chartiers-Houston in a Section 3-AA game Tuesday night.
Dhans’ key defensive play and basket cut short a Chartiers-Houston comeback as the Bucs (1-3, 4-4) erased an 18-point fourth-quarter deficit and tied the score at 57-57 with 16 seconds to play. C-H was sparked by Alec Ferrari and AJ Myers, who combined for 49 points. Ferrari scored a game-high 31 points and Myers followed with 18.
Burgettstown (2-2, 3-4) opened a 34-24 halftime lead and added to the advantage until it grew to 54-36 in the fourth quarter. Dhans and Logan Triebsch led the Blue Devils in scoring, each with 17 points. Hunter Lecker followed with 12 points.
Waynesburg 59, Beth-Center 41: Dom Sarra and Mitch Warmen combined for 43 points as Waynesburg rolled to a 59-41 victory over visiting Beth-Center in Section 4-AA.
Sarra and Warmen each had a double-double. Sarra tossed in a game-high 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Warmen finished with 20 points and dominated on the boards with a game-high 18 rebounds. The win improved Waynesburg to 2-2 in the section and 5-3 overall.
Beth-Center (0-3, 3-5) was led by Brady McDonnell with 16 points.
Uniontown 78, Ringgold 47: Jeremy Perrin scored 27 points and Uniontown bounced back from its only loss of the season with a 78-47 victory over visiting Ringgold in Section 4-AAA.
The Red Raiders (3-0, 8-1) raced to a 28-13 lead after one quarter and led 57-23 at halftime. Joe Campbell scored 16 points and Rod Harris had 13 for Uniontown, which shares the section lead with West Mifflin.
Ringgold (1-2, 3-3) was paced by Ethan Defide, who had 15 points. George Martin followed with 13.
Charleroi 55, Carmichaels 40: John Arnold scored 22 points to send Charleroi to a 55-40 victory over Carmichaels in a Section 4-AA game.
Matt Carr added 11 points for the cougars (4-0, 4-3).
Jacob Wamsley had 11 points and Cody Brown 10 for the Mikes (0-3, 0-6).
Canon-McMillan 66, Baldwin 55: Sam Bohn scored a game-high 25 points to power Canon-McMillan to a 66-55 win over Baldwin in a Section 4-AAAA game.
Carson Miller had 12 points and R.J. Bell 10 for the Big Macs (1-1, 3-4).
Kevin Taylor paced Baldwin with 19 points. Anthony Starzynski chipped in with 12 points and Anthony Parente added 11.
McGuffey 58, Keystone Oaks 54: In an odd bit of scoring, Damian McCloskey and Zach Maxwell combined for 33 points but neither scored a point in the same half as McGuffey downed Keystone Oaks 58-54 in a Section 5-AAA game.
McCloskey had 19 points for the Highlanders (2-1, 3-3), all in the first half, and Maxwell tossed in 14 all in the second half. Nate Whipkey added 12 points.
Mike Orosz paced Keystone Oaks (0-4, 1-7) with 12 points and Kobe Phillippi chipped in with 11.
Monessen 93, Geibel 24: Monessen scored 68 first-half points on the way to a 93-24 victory over Geibel in a Section 3-A game.
Lavalle Rush led the way for the Greyhounds (3-0, 4-3) with 21 points. Noah Rullo had 15 points and Noah Yartin added 14. Luke Beveridge had 11 points and seven steals. Justice Rice scored 10 points and had seven rebounds.
Geibel fell to 4-2 and 2-2.
Peters Township 64, Moon 48: Nick Valentic scored 16 points to propel Peters Township to a 64-48 victory over Moon in Section 4-AAAA.
Tim Swoope added 11 for the Indians (1-2, 5-4), who led 34-24 at halftime.
Kyle paced Moon, which fell to 0-2 in the section, with 16 points.
Brownsville 70, Bentworth 53: Noah Brown tossed in 18 points to spark Brownsville to a 70-53 win over Bentworth in a Section 4-AA game.
Treyvan Browns and Andre Smith each had 10 points for the Falcons (3-0, 6-2).
Zach Rabker led Bentworth (1-3, 3-4) with 15 points and Damon Petrola-Bakos contributed 13. T.J. Kurutz scored 11 points.
California 36, West Greene 33: Trey Matthews scored 11 points to help California down West Greene, 36-33, in a late Monday game. Craig Weaver had 18 for West Greene.
