CARMICHAELS – The board of directors of ACTS of Greene County hosted its 12th Annual Christmas Tree Extravaganza at Carmichaels First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall Dec. 6-12 to support the Cumberland Township Food Bank.

The event raised $3,591.50 for the food bank, a new record. Evelynn Edwards, ACTS board president, presented a check in that amount to Terri Trackmas, director of Cumberland Township Food Bank.

This year, 24 decorated trees and one wreath were donated by local businesses and individuals. Tickets were sold through the ACTS Shop during regular hours and by board members in the evenings.

Groups providing evening entertainment during the event included the Musical Mikes from Carmichaels Area Elementary school and Greene Academy Dulcimer Players. Coffee, cocoa and cookies were served during the evening hours.

Each tree was unique, and some of the favorites this year were “Beary Honey of a Tree,” “Chocolate Tree,” “Frozen,” “Merry Minnie Christmas,” “Peppermint Payout” and “Bikes for Christmas” (two bicycles were given as part of the package). The winners of the trees and wreath were determined by a drawing Dec. 12.

Individuals and groups wishing to participate in next year’s event by donating a decorated tree can contact the ACTS Shop on Morgantown Street, Carmichaels, by stopping in or calling 724-966-5396.
