Wash High girls win, add to lead in Section 4-AA

Tajah Gordon and Mikala Maltony combined for 29 points Monday night as Washington remained in first place in Section 4-AA with a 49-36 victory at Bentworth.
The Prexies (8-1, 11-6) won for the fourth time in five games and increased their lead over second-place Frazier to a full game.
Wash High pulled away in the second half, after leading by only 23-21 at halftime. Gordon scored a game-high 19 points and Maltony also reached double figures with 10 points.
Reilly Skerbetz kept Bentworth (3-7, 8-9) within striking distance for much of the game by scoring 17 points.
Bishop Canevin 55, Chartiers-Houston 37: Bishop Canevin made 11 of its 13 free throws down the stretch as the Crusaders held off Chartiers-Houston, 55-37, in a Section 3-AA game.
Lauren Gamble scored 16 points, Erin Joyce had 14 and Gina Vallecorsa 12 for Bishop Canevin (9-1, 12-7).
Alexa Williamson scored a game-high 23 points and had 20 rebounds for the Bucs (6-3, 12-6).
In other games: Peters Township moved to the .500 mark in Section 4-AAAA with a 71-42 victory over visiting Moon. The Indians, who have won four of their last five games, are 5-5 in the section and 11-6 overall. Moon fell to 1-10, 3-14. No game details were made available to the Observer-Reporter.
