Fort Cherry holds executive session for personnel matter
Members of Fort Cherry School Board met Saturday for an executive session to discuss a personnel matter, President Tina Cottrill announced Tuesday during the board’s regularly scheduled committee meeting.
Cottrill did not discuss additional details. Superintendent Dr. Jill Jacoby said the board met for a retreat Saturday. She declined further comment.
Saturday’s meeting followed a story in Friday’s Observer-Reporter about the absence of the district’s business manager, Paul Sroka. Sroka has not worked at the district for the past three months even though he’s still considered a paid employee and now is working part time in the same capacity for Jeannette City School District.
Sroka’s official job status and the reasons for his absence are unknown and details about the situation have been scarce. Sroka, who has worked as Fort Cherry’s business manager for nearly 13 years, is under contract until June with a salary that pays him more than $80,000 a year. He declined to discuss the situation “until an agreement is reached” with Fort Cherry.
Although several residents were in attendance Tuesday, Sroka’s employment was not discussed by the public.
