C-M’s Parker, Mikes’ Cree each score 1,000th

Senior forward Danielle Parker scored a game-high 17 points, including her 1,000th career point at Canon-McMillan, as the Big Macs defeated host Moon, 45-32, Thursday night in Section 4-AAAA.
Parker keyed a huge third quarter for Canon-McMillan (5-5, 10-6), which improved to .500 in the sectiona dn remain in the playoff hunt. The Big Macs led 21-16 at halftime, then outscored Moon 18-2 in the third quarter. Parker scored 11 points during the pivotal quarter and finished the night with 1,004 career points.
Cheyenne Trest scored 13 points for the Big Macs.
Moon (1-9, 3-13) was led by Anny Unis with 10 points.
Carmichaels 53, Bentworth 47: Caroline Cree scored 28 points to become the seventh girl at Carmichaels to surpass 1,000 points in her career in a 53-47 Section 4-AA win by the Mikes over Bentworth.
Cree needed 14 points entering the game and reached that in the second quarter for the Mikes (2-6, 8-10). Emily Novak added 10 points in the winning effort.
Reilly Skerbetz had 15 points, while Grace Marchezak added 14, for the Bearcats (3-6, 8-8).
Fort Cherry 40, Avella 22: Hannah Greene’s 13 points helped Fort Cherry overcome a tough shooting night in a 40-22 Section 3-A win over Avella.
Tina Bellhy added 12 points for the Rangers (6-4, 6-9), who won despite making 12 of 32 free throws.
Raneisha Brown led Avella (2-8, 4-13) with eight points.
Charleroi 40, Waynesburg 21: Charleroi jumped out to a 20-2 first quarter lead and cruised to a 40-21 Section 4-AA win over Waynesburg.
Sierra Short scored eight points to lead the Cougars (6-3, 10-7).
Celine Monica had a game-high 12 points for Waynesburg (0-9, 2-12).
Monessen 41, West Greene 15: Cara Grogan scored 19 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and had five steals to lead Monessen to a 41-15 Section 3-A win against West Greene.
The victory improves Monessen to 5-5 in section and 7-10 overall.
Rachel Carrico had eight points to lead West Greene (0-10, 0-18), which was made three of 17 foul shots.
Seton-La Salle 72, Burgettstown 33: Morgan Henderson’s 16 points helped Seton-La Salle to a 72-33 Section 3-AA victory over Burgettstown.
Julie DeKlaven added 14 points and Nicolette Newman had 11 for Seton-La Salle (8-0, 11-5).
Katie Tarr led Burgettstown (3-6, 9-8) with eight points.
California 57, Mapletown 11:California raced to a 21-point lead after one quarter, then held visiting Mapletown scoreless in the second quarter and cruised to a 57-11 victory in Section 3-A.
The win was the 17th in a row for the Trojans (10-0, 17-1). Bailey Vig was the leading scorer for Cal with 12 points. Kylie Huffman, Lyndsey Huhn and Kat Pankratz each contributed 10 points.
Madison Bogden scored seven points for Mapletown (3-7, 4-13).
The teams combined to attempt only three free throws, making two.
South Fayette 58, Norwin 51: Jack Relihan scored a game-high 20 points and made all 10 of his free-throw attempts as South Fayette held off visiting Norwin 58-51 in a non-section game.
The win was the seventh in a row for South Fayette (12-1) while Norwin fell to 12-5.
South Fayette built a 14-point halftime lead and stayed in front by making 20 of 29 free throws on the night. Brett Brumbaugh had a double-double for the Lions with 13 points and 13 rebounds, and sophomore point guard Matt Thomas made his first start and scored 10 points, which included seven free throws.
Gage McCracken led Norwin with 12 points and Peyton Deri had 10.
