Donora man is arrested after day care workers smell marijuana
A Donora man was arrested Tuesday by borough police who were called after employees of a day care center complained about the odor of burning marijuana coming from an adjacent apartment.
Christian Alexander “Criddy” Lowe, 23, of 921 Thompson Ave., is facing charges of possession and possession with intent to deliver crack, and possession of marijuana and paraphernalia.
Police received a call to their station just after 2 p.m. from an employee of Sonya’s Enchanted Garden Day Care Center, 425 McKean Ave., about the strong odor of burning marijuana coming from the apartment next door. When police arrived, they could also smell it.
Police entered the apartment at 419 McKean and smelled an even stronger odor of marijuana. The building is vacant except for one apartment. When police asked the occupant if he was smoking, the man replied he had not. He allowed police to enter his apartment. They found Lowe in a bedroom. Police spotted a wooden container with a small bag of suspected marijuana and a container with a small bag of suspected crack.
Lowe was taken into custody. During the search, police found three more bags of suspected crack in the bedroom. Police also found a sandwich bag containing smaller plastic bags, three electronic scales, four cellphones and other paraphernalia.
He was arraigned before District Judge Jay Weller and placed in Washington County jail on $10,000 bond. He is set for a preliminary hearing before District Judge Mark Wilson Jan. 29.
