I was chagrined to read your Tuesday editorial attacking the National Rifle Association. It is filled with inaccuracies. The AR-15 is a small-caliber, semi-automatic rifle. The difference between it and other semi-automatic rifles is the stock configuration. Semi-automatic rifles have been around for over 70 years. The military rifle (M1) used in World War II is a semi-automatic rifle of a larger caliber, which is vastly more powerful than the AR-15. The information you use sounds like the drivel from former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg’s group Everytown for Gun Safety.

The NRA doesn’t espouse the arming everyone to reduce crime. Your information twists the facts to sell your beliefs.

You don’t address the deranged people who use guns to kill people. Maybe encouraging mental health treatment would result in less shooting.
