W.Va. worker killed while laying gas pipe

BETHANY, W.Va. — Officials are investigating the death of worker while installing a natural gas pipeline in Bethany.

Media outlets report that crews were using heavy equipment to lift a 120-foot section of pipeline around 7 p.m. Sunday when it swayed into another piece of equipment and crashed through its windshield and struck the operator.

Authorities say the worker died at the scene, off state Route 67. They have not released the man’s name.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration and other agencies are investigating.
