Whole Foods is coming to the South Hills.

KGA Partners, LLC, a Pittsurgh-based real estate developer, said Wednesday it has entered into a lease agreement with Whole Foods Market to build a store in Upper St. Clair. It will be constructed on the site of the former Consol Energy Inc. headquarters on Fort Couch Road, just off Washington Road (Route 19).

The store is scheduled to open in autumn 2015 and will be across Washington Road from South Hills Village and about 1 mile from the Giant Eagle Market District in Bethel Park.

The new store will offer specialty and high-quality natural and organic foods. Plans are to have 40,000 square feet of space and 222 parking spaces.

“We are extremely excited to bring the most respected national grocery purveyor to our community,” said Hal Kestler, managing partner of KGA. “We share the Whole Foods philosophy of quality, wholesome products grown with respect for our environment.”

This will be the second Whole Foods store in Western Pennsylvania, along with one in the Shadyside section of Pittsburgh.
