PITTSBURGH — Officials of Spaghetti Warehouse Restaurants Inc. on Tuesday launched a community program in Pittsburgh titled “Spaghetti for Socks,” in which a person who donates one or more pairs of men’s, women’s or children’s socks to a local rescue mission will get a coupon for a $6 Spaghetti entrée.

Beginning Tuesday and running through Dec. 24, each pair collected at Spaghetti Warehouse will be donated to the Light of Life Rescue Mission in Pittsburgh. The restaurant is in the city’s Strip District at 2601 Smallman St.

The coupon is redeemable for a $6 spaghetti and meatballs entrée plus a choice of a garden salad or soup and sourdough bread.

“As the weather gets colder, there is a great need for basic items including food, shelter and clothing. One of those items is a warm pair of socks,” said Jessi Marsh, director of development for the mission. “Everyone who makes a donation is directly helping homeless men, women and children in the Greater Pittsburgh area.”

Founded in 1952, Light of Life Rescue Mission is committed to saving and transforming the lives of those in need and empowers men, women and children to overcome extreme adversities and gain the skills for lifelong achievement.

“On behalf of everyone at Spaghetti Warehouse, we are pleased to help provide support to the Light of Life Rescue Mission and to all of those served by their good and compassionate work,” said Azam Malik, president and chief operating officer of Spaghetti Warehouse.
