September slots revenue declines statewide

HARRISBURG – The Meadows Racetrack & Casino was one of 11 casinos to show a decline in slot machine revenue in September, according to the latest data from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.
According to a news release Wednesday from the PGCB, the North Strabane Township casino had gross terminal revenue of $18,908,381 last month, down 12.1 percent from the $21,501,091 recorded for September of a year ago.
The Meadows was the third-largest percentage loser for the latest reporting month, behind Harrah’s Philadelphia Casino and Racetrack, whose slots revenue fell 15 percent and Presque Isle Downs and Casino in Erie, which fell 14.5 percent.
Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino, with revenue of $22,083,157, was down 1.2 percent from the $22,340,293 it collected a year ago.
According to the PGCB report, September gross revenue from slot machines at the 12 operating casinos was $187,803,113, or 6.3 percent lower than the $100,465,589 reported for September 2012.
The PGCB said tax revenue in September of this year was $100,658,385.
In a comparison of just the 11 casinos operating in September 2013 that were also open for the full month of September 2012, revenue was 7.3 percent lower this year.
The only Pennsylvania casino to report an incrase in gross slots revenue for September was Valley Forge Casino Resort, which brought in $4,920,828, up 14.2 percent from the $,308,492 collected a year ago.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin at Nemacolin Woodlands in Farmington, which opened July 1, had September slots gross revenue of $1,968,755.
