For the second consecutive month, gross revenue from table games was a mixed bag at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Tuesday the North Strabane Township casino generated $2,959,755 in September, a 5 percent increase from $2,818,372 in September 2012. This increase occurred with 75 tables in use, compared with 80 the previous year.
Last month’s total, however, was 6.8 percent ($206,053) below the August 2013 figure of $3,024,425.
Year-over-year revenue was down 3.6 percent statewide. The 12 Pennsylvania casinos generated $57.2 million last month, compared with $59.3 million in August 2012.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, which began operations July 1, experienced a 24.4 percent dropoff from August to September, from $492,789 to $372,120 – with 28 tables operating each month.
That August figure at the Fayette facility represented a 104 percent increase over the opening month.
Table games revenue year-over-year declined 15.9 percent at Rivers Casino, on the North Shore of Pittsburgh. It generated $5,493,835 last month compared with $6,533,142 in September 2012. There were 113 tables in operation each of those months.
Overall gaming revenue for last month – including slots figures released in early October – was $244,973,759, a 5.7 percent decrease from $259,767,499 the previous September.
The report on the gaming board’s web site, www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, said table games play in September raised $7.4 million in tax revenue.
The state uses casino revenue to support the state budget, public schools, civic development projects, volunteer firefighting squads, local governments and the horse racing industry.
Pennsylvania taxes gross slots revenue at a rate of about 55 percent.
