Experts discuss future of W.Va.’s energy industry

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — Energy research and how to take advantage of it are among the topics of discussion at a symposium now underway in Morgantown.
The fifth Science, Technology and Research or STaR Symposium began Tuesday and continues through Wednesday at the Waterfront Place Hotel.
Panel discussions focus on what kind of research is already happening in areas such as geothermal energy, shale gas and biofuels, and on how to develop a new workforce for the energy industry.
Experts will also discuss the long-term outlook for coal.
Science director Jan Taylor of the West Virginia Higher Education Policy Commission will lead the final panel discussion on what lies ahead for West Virginia’s energy industry.
