MORGANTOWN, W.Va. – The West Virginia University Foundation has a new chief executive officer.

The board of directors announced Thursday that Cynthia Roth will start Jan. 1. She’s currently associate vice chancellor of institutional advancement at the University of Pittsburgh.

Roth has helped lead Pitt’s successful $2 billion Building Our Future Together capital campaign. Board chairman Bob Reynolds said he’s confident she’ll do great things for WVU.

Before joining Pitt in 2005, Roth was executive director of Family House Inc., a nonprofit that provides lodging for patients and families traveling to the Pittsburgh region for medical care.

She also has been vice president of patient care services at several hospitals in Western Pennsylvania.

Roth succeeds R. Wayne King, who has held the post since July 2007.
