Meadows, state slots revenues decline again

Slots success continues to evade The Meadows Racetrack & Casino.
The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported recently that The Meadows experienced a 5.65 percent decrease in gross revenue in August compared with the same month in 2012.
That was the ninth consecutive month and 12th of the past 14 that the North Strabane Township casino showed a year-over-year decline.
On its website, gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, the board said The Meadows realized $19,623,289 in August revenue, down from $20,799,200 a year earlier.
Statewide, according to the gaming board, the 11 casinos operating both Augusts dropped 3.4 percent in gross revenue, from $210,584,315 in August 2012 to $203,342,418 last month. Nine of the 11 showed declines, the exceptions being Valley Forge Casino Resort (37.76 percent) and Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem (2.05 percent).
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin, at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort in Fayette County, became the state’s 12th operating casino when it opened July 1. Its gross revenue for August was $2,032,473, but even with that figure factored in, Pennsylvania realized a 2.47 percent decline year over year.
Lady Luck’s August figure was $340,610 less than the $2,357,083 it generated in its debut month.
Rivers Casino, on the North Shore of Pittsburgh, had a modest 2.39 percent dropoff from $23,955,437 in August 2012 to $23,384,080 last month.
