Ansys Inc. engineered a prosperous second quarter.
Ansys, a global provider of engineering simulation software, reported big increases in profit and revenue for the three-month period that ended June 30, compared with the second quarter of 2013.
The Southpointe-based firm had a second-quarter net income of $63 million, or 67 cents a share, a 13 percent increase from $55.9 million, or 59 cents a share, during the second quarter of 2013.
The second-quarter revenue was $232.4 million, up 8.2 percent from $214.8 million during the year-ago period.
Profit and revenue for the first six months of this year likewise were up from the first half of 2013.
The net income for January through June was $119.6 million, 11.8 percent higher than $107.0 million for the first two quarters of 2013. Revenue jumped 8.5 percent for the period, to $447.6 million from $412.6 million.
Jim Cashman, Ansys president and chief executive officer, said, “(That) was a record quarter for Ansys with revenues at the high end of our guidance range, and earnings above the high end of our range. We are encouraged by the continued progress that we have made in our Asia-Pacific business, as demonstrated by another quarter of double digit revenue growth.”
