IMPERIAL, Pa. — A German company has bought the parent firm that owns the Airmall at Pittsburgh International Airport.

Airmall USA Holdings operates the shopping and concession area at the Pittsburgh airport and at major airports in Baltimore, Boston and Cleveland.

Airmall USA announced the deal in which its parent, AMU Holdings Inc. was purchased by The Fraport Group, of Frankfurt, Germany.

The Fraport Group operates retail centers at airports worldwide. Fraport says the Airmall USA deal gives the company “a promising platform for developing our U.S. business in the future.”

Airmall USA said the Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Boston and Cleveland hubs serve about 70 million passengers annually.
