Chamber plans ‘state of economy’ program

The Washington County Chamber of Commerce will host “Washington County: State of the Economy” from 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Feb. 27 at Hilton Garden Inn, Southpointe.
Washington County continues to lead the Greater Pittsburgh region in terms of economic development, energy production and job creation. The program will recognize this success and provide insight into 2014, and will include a press conference with the Washington County Commissioners on recent economic developments. Also to be released during the program will be the findings of a study by Washington & Jefferson College and Marcellus Shale Coalition on the impact of the energy industry on our county.
The event will conclude with a luncheon speaker from Sunoco to discuss the impact of the company’s Mariner East project on Washington County’s future.
Registration, breakfast and a business exposition will begin at 8 a.m., followed by the commissioners’ press conference at 8:30 a.m.
Following a 9:30 a.m. break, the program will resume at 10 a.m. with the presentation of findings from the W&J/MSC energy impact study.
Following an 11 a.m. break, an 11:30 a.m. lunch will present “Connecting Washington County to the World,” featuring Joseph F. McGinn, spokesman for Sunoco Inc..
The business exposition will remain open until 1 p.m.
