Slots revenue stands pat; Meadows up

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board reported Tuesday that overall slot machine revenue generated at casinos during May was down less than 1 percent compared to May 2013.
According to the PGCB, the 12 casinos generated slot machine revenue of $210,830,677, just 0.20 percent less than in May of 2013 when revenue was $211,245,136.
Locally, slots revenue at The Meadows Casino was up slightly, moving to $20,965,495, up from $20,877,963 collected in May 2013, a gain of 0.42 percent.
At Pittsburgh-based Rivers Casino, revenue from slots fell 1.84 percent, from $24,421,729 in May 2013, to $23,971,418 a year ago.
Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Farmington, which opened in July 2013, had $2,306,863 in May.
Statewide, May’s biggest percentage gainer was Valley Forge Casino Resort, which saw a 20 percent gain, moving to $6,483,874 last month from $5,405,963 collected a year ago.
According to PGCB, revenue generation resulted in a return of $112,795,975 in taxes during May, an average of $3.6 million generated daily.
The average number of slot machines in operation on a daily basis at the 12 casinos was also slightly higher during May 2014 with 26,417 compared to 25,973 during May 2013.
The primary difference in the number of slot machines was the operation of Lady Luck Casino in May of this year, a facility that was not yet opened in May of last year.
