The Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency will launch a flagship magazine this fall for their economic development and tourism efforts.

The new publication, Inside Washington County, which will be a joint effort from the two agencies will be a signature glossy magazine focused on commerce and tourism in Washington County, and will be distributed heavily in the tri-state region.

Published every other month, it will replace three existing magazines: The Washington County Business Journal, Washington County Destination Guide and Washington County Executive Series.

Jeff Kotula, president of the chamber and WCTPA, said the production will be significant and the distribution will be substantial in Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia.

“When the Washington County Chamber of Commerce and Washington County Tourism Promotion Agency merged earlier this year, our intent was to increase the marketing exposure for our businesses, tourism assets and county by coordinating efforts and initiatives,” Kotula said Thursday. “Inside Washington County will accomplish these goals by sending one unified message that promotes our county to both the business sector and tourism industry. This combined publication is, I believe, unique to our state, but once again demonstrates that Washington County is innovative and aggressive in its marketing efforts.”

Kotula said Observer Publishing Co.’s advertising team will coordinate advertising sales, Melone Advertising will lay out the magazine and Knepper Press will produce it.

“We are positioning this to be the county’s flagship magazine,” Kotula said. “The first edition will publish in September, and we have had substantial interest from our members in advertising opportunities.”
