Aldi agreed to buy Bottom Dollar Food stores from Delhaize Group for $15 million. The transaction is expected to close by the end of the first quarter of 2015.

Bottom Dollar has 66 stores, 20 of them in the greater Pittsburgh region, 46 in the Philadephia area. None is in Washington or Greene counties. Bridgeville is the closest store to Washington County.

The stores, which employ about 2,200, are expected to operate under the Bottom Dollar banner through the end of the year.

Aldi, which has stores in Trinity Point in South Strabane Township and in Waynesburg, has more than 1,300 stores in 32 states, mostly from Kansas to the East Coast.
