Slots revenue up across state

HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board said slot machine revenue at casinos statewide last month improved slightly – 0.18 percent – compared with May 2014.

According to the monthly report posted Wednesday on the PGCB’s website, www.gamingcontrolboard.pa.gov, gross revenue last month was $211,219,909, up from $210,830,677 a year earlier.

Last month’s revenue resulted in $112,763,746 in taxes to Pennsylvania citizens, an average of $3.6 million a day.

There was an average of 26,382 slot machines in daily operation in May, down slightly from 26,417 in May 2014.

The Meadows Racetrack & Casino in North Strabane Township experienced a 6.49 percent decrease year over year, to $19,605,190 from $20,965,496.

Revenue rose at the other two casinos in Southwestern Pennsylvania. Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino had a 1.45 percent increase last month, to $24,319,720 from $23,971,418; and Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Farmington jumped 14.32 percent, to $2,637,134 from $$2,306,864.
