Chick-fil-A to open next week
Chick-fil-A will make its Washington County debut next week.
The fast-food chicken chain will take wing March 26 with its grand opening at the Old Mill shopping venue, off Washington Road in South Strabane Township. Doors will open at 6 a.m.
This stand-alone restaurant will be the first Chick-fil-A to open in the Pittsburgh region in four years, and one of three that will launch in Pennsylvania this year. The other two will be in the eastern part of the state.
Kory Kaye will be the operator and head a crew of 70. He ran the Robinson Township location the past two years. His new restaurant will have Wi-Fi, drive-thru and seating for 136 inside, 24 outside.
Chick-fil-A, based in College Park, Ga., will have its typical “First 100” grand opening. The first 100 adults – 18 or older with ID – on-site when the restaurant opens will get a year of free meals.
Patrons may start lining up 24 hours earlier, at 6 a.m. Wednesday, and if more than 100 show up then, winners will be determined by a drawing. But those selected will be obligated to camp out on-site for those 24 hours.
As part of the opening, the chain is seeking donations of new children’s books for Washington Park Elementary of Washington School District. Kaye will be collecting them from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. next Wednesday outside the restaurant.
Hours of operation will be 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, with the full breakfast menu being served till 10:30.
