Comcast Xfinity will stay in South Strabane Township, but relocate to a larger building with a larger staff and provide a larger range of services.

The massive mass media company will open an Xfinity Store Monday in the Old Mill complex, across Route 19 from its current location in Northgate Plaza. The new store, with 3,982 square feet, will differ from its predecessor, according to Bob Grove, spokesman for Comcast Cable’s Keystone Region.

“Our legacy customer service centers were primarily transaction-based, but our new Xfinity Stores are transforming the customer experience,” he said in an email. “Customers can still complete those transactions if they like (drop-off or pickup of equipment, payment of bills, service upgrades), but they can also rely on the expanded staff to answer their questions or demonstrate products.”

Xfinity Home and the X1 platform are options that also will be available at the new store. Xfinity Home provides home security and energy management, and X1 is a cloud-based video interface with many options.

Grove said this will be the second Xfinity Store in Southwestern Pennsylvania; the first opened Monday at McCandless Crossing in the North Hills. The South Strabane store will be the seventh in the Keystone Region, the others being in McCandless, Morgantown, W.Va., Reading, Scranton, Lancaster and York.

Nine will be employed at the Old Mill store, up from four at its predecessor.

Store hours will be 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday – the first time an Xfinity store in South Strabane will be open Sundays.
