Mad Mex to open next month in North Strabane
There is a new taco date – er, target date – for the opening of Mad Mex in North Strabane Township.
It will likely be mid- to late July, a few weeks later than originally forecast.
Pittsburgh-based big Burrito Restaurant Group, the parent company, provided the update in a news release Tuesday. Mad Mex Lakeside will operate at 200 Lakeside Drive North, on a site previously occupied by On Deck Bar and Grill. The location is off Route 19, across Canonsburg Lake from Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza in Peters Township.
Mad Mex is recognized for its California-Mexican cuisine and margaritas. The Lakeside location will include a large outdoor deck overlooking the lake, seating for about 250 and more parking than any of its other 13 locations – up to 150 vehicles. There will be an outdoor fire pit and indoor fireplace to warm patrons on cooler days.
Lakeside will be the eighth Mad Mex restaurant in the Pittsburgh region. The others are in Scott Township, Robinson Township, Oakland, Shadyside, Cranberry, North Hills and Monroeville.
All but one of the 14 Mad Mex restaurants are in Pennsylvania, including three in the Philadelphia area and one each in Erie and State College. Columbus, Ohio, also has a Mad Mex.
