CALIFORNIA — The Sarah Scaife Foundation has awarded a $130,000 grant to California University of Pennsylvania to support the university’s Government Agency Coordination Office through Aug. 31, 2017.

The university said in a news release Tuesday that the funding will be used by GACO to assist area businesses in all aspects of federal, state, local, and corporate contracting and subcontracting.

GACO is a Procurement Technical Assistance Center that provides advice, assistance and support to businesses interested in selling their products/services to the government.

“We are very fortunate for the continued support the Sarah Scaife Foundation provides our GACO program,” said Cal U President Geraldine M. Jones. “Their generosity in providing funding for 31 years is extremely important to businesses located in our area. It allows GACO to continue to assist companies in all aspects of government contracting.”

According to Deborah S. Wojcik, GACO director, since 1985 the GACO staff has helped regional businesses receive 55,702 contracts totaling more than $3,461,236,000.

“The tremendous partnership we have with the Sarah Scaife Foundation has made this possible,” she said. “

GACO’s main office is located on Cal U’s main campus and two satellite offices are in Pittsburgh and at Slippery Rock University.
