HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania’s unemployment rate remained unchanged at 5.7 percent in September.

The state Labor and Industry Department said Friday that total nonfarm jobs declined 5,300 for the month.

The agency said jobs were down in seven of 11 categories.

The education and health services sector, and the government sector, each lost 6,400.

But state officials said two sectors reached record high employment levels – professional and business services with a gain of 6,700 jobs, and leisure and hospitality with 4,800.
