The U.S. Small Business Administration will kick off a six-part series for small business owners at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Charleroi Borough Building.

Natalia Olson-Urtecho, administrator for the SBA’s Mid-Atlantic Region, will meet with about 25 small business owners from the Mon Valley. The University of Pittsburgh’s Small Business Development Center developed the series, called “Planning for Profits, Making Small Businesses Lean & Prosperous.”

The series is free to business owners through the SBA pilot program “Lean for Main Street Training Challenge.”

“Lean training involves a simplified, step-by-step approach to running a business. Classes range from developing customers, customer segments and relationships and revenue streams,” Olson-Urtecho said in a prepared statement.

Representatives of eligible businesses must attend all sessions and finish assigned projects. A business must have at least one employee, and direct competitors cannot attend.

To register, contact the Pitt SBDC at 412-648-1542 or iee@innovation.pitt.edu. The borough building is at 338 Fallowfield Ave., 15022.
