Pa. slots revenue declines in August

HARRISBURG – Combined gross revenue from slot machines at Pennsylvania’s 12 casinos fell 4.5 percent in August, according to the state Gaming Control Board.

The PGCB said in a news release Friday slot revenue for August was $193,949,367, down from the $203,026,163 in gross revenue collected in August a year ago.

Tax revenue for the latest reporting period was $103,498,951.

The decline in gross revenue was recorded at 11 of the 12 casinos; only Valley Forge Casino Resort saw an increase – 2.89 percent – over August 2015.

At The Meadows Casino in North Strabane Township, revenue declined 5.7 percent, from $19,430,465 a year ago to $18,323,551 in August.

Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino reported a 7.66 percent decline, moving from $25,503,330 last August to $21,884,335 last month.

Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin in Farmington fell from $2,831,301 to $2,662,960, a 5.95 percent drop.

The average number of slot machines operating thorughout the Commonwealth was 26,676 in August, compared to 26,234 a year ago.
