Pa. table games revenue up over last year

HARRISBURG – Table state fiscal year games revenue increased 3.25 percent during the recently completed 2016/17 compared to the previous fiscal year, according to the latest report from the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board.

According to a news release, PGCB said table games at the state’s 12 casinos was up in nine of the 12 months during the fiscal year, with total revenue in 2016/2017 of $866,467,940 compared to $839,177,086 during the 2015/2016 fiscal year.

Tax revenue produced through table games play was up 15.74 percent from $119 million in FY 2015/2016 to $138 million in FY 2016/2017, an increase of almost $19 million.

The board also reported that in June, the final month of FY 2016/2017, table games revenue generated a 2.16 percent increase compared to June 2016.

At The Meadows Casino in South Strabane Township, table games revenue for FY 2016/2017 grew by 0.17 percent from the previous fiscal year, moving to $32,103,316 from $32,050,048.

Pittsburgh’s Rivers Casino saw its table games revenue decline 7.43 percent; while Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin fell 20.32 percent during the most recent fiscal year.

For June, The Meadows saw its table games revenue grow 19.72 percent, to $2,647,382 from $2,211,263 in June 2016.

The Rivers Casino experienced an 11.03 percent decrease, while Lady Luck Casino Nemacolin’s table games revenue plummeted 47.72 percent.

According to PGCB, overall gaming revenue, a combination of slots machine gambling and table games, was down less than 1 percent in 2016/2017, with slots producing a total of $2,236,152,508, and table games $866,467,940 for a total of $3,202,620,448, or 0.78 percent lower than the $3,227,835,635 seen in FY 2015/2016.
